when fishing for tench i normaly use a 12-13ft float rod with a fixed spool reel with main line 4-5lb with a 3-4 lb bottom this depends on the size of the fish in the venue

one of the most well known methods for catching tench is the lift method ,make sure you have a tell tell shot touching the bottom and about 4-6inches of line laying on the bottom, when the tench takes the bait the float will lift up, when its moving up thats the time to strike, as the tench has the bait in its mouth

one of the best baits for tench fishing has to be bread flake just pinch a thumb nail sized piece of bread onto the hook and squeeze gently another realy good bait has to be sweetcorn fished on a hair rig another deadly bait is trout pellet paste (crushed trout pellets binded with eggs)

the best time to fish for tench is early morning in the summer months and just before sunset
